I was wondering after a year of waiting, when and if the city is going to address the issue of single source on trash pick up. I am currently paying double, as Shelby Twp. for the same service, from the same trash company. I cannot understand why we are not looking into this??

I look forward to your reply.

Thank You
Gary Foldessy

Dear Mr. Foldessy:

Thank you for your comments. This particular topic has been in front of City Council several times over the past few years. It is an item that seems to stir emotions in both supporters and detractors.

I chaired the committee that gathered the information on the topic several years ago and the benefits of such a program were notable, yet opposition existed and City Council voted 4-3 to decline to participate. The matter is one of policy and, as such, is in the control of the City Council. My guess is that no major discussion on this topic will occur until after the election this fall. You are certainly encouraged to contact your City Council Representative with your feelings on the topic.

Thank you again for your inquiry, and if I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Bryan K. Barnett, Mayor
City of Rochester Hills
