Stream Bank Restoration Workshop

The City of Rochester Hills will be hosting a Stream Bank Restoration Workshop.

Date: Monday June 18, 2007

Time: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Location: City Hall Auditorium
1000 Rochester Hills Drive
Rochester Hills, Michigan 48309

Workshop Goal: Provide information to assist with stream bank
restoration projects.

Target Audience: Riparian Landowners (land owners in close
proximity or adjoining a watercourse),
Homeowner Associations, and Volunteers.
Presenters:

· Clinton River Watershed Council

· Environmental Stewardship Oakland County Planning & Economic
Development Services

· Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ)

· Watershed Management Division
Wayne County Department of Environment

Objective: Recently there has been an increase in the number of inquiries regarding stream bank restoration along rivers, creeks, and tributaries. To address this workshop goal, there will be presentations discussing the causes of stream bank erosion, impacts caused by the erosion, and a guide to prevention. Additionally, there will be presentations on design and construction, as well as methods and materials used for restoration. MDEQ Staff will provide information regarding when a permit is required, and what information is necessary to obtain a permit.

If you have photos identifying areas of concern along your stream bank, please submit them in advance as they may be used for discussion in the workshop. Please contact Roger Moore, Storm Water Manager at 248 656-4640 for further information.

MEETINGS WITH MAYOR BRYAN K. BARNETT

Mayor Barnett welcomes residents on Thursday afternoons from 1:30 until 3:00. No appointment is needed. Please contact the Mayor's Office at 248 656-4664 to schedule a meeting from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Mayor Barnett is also available to meet with residents at OPC on the first Monday of each month from 10:00 - 11:30 in the dining room. The OPC is located at 650 Letica Drive.
